Why I’d Rather Drive Than Fly

About once a month, I make a trip from Knoxville to Tampa to take care of our FL clients. It’s about a 10 hour drive and in spite of the fact we live about 10 mins from the airport, I prefer to drive than fly. I’m not scared of flying – just got fed up.

Maybe you can identify with some of the reasons why I’d rather drive than fly:

1.  I don’t have to be in the garage 2 hours before time to leave.
2.  I don’t have to stand in line for a half hour so someone can inspect my luggage or so I can enjoy a “random” security screening.
3.  I don’t have to take off my shoes, belt, coat, or any other part of my wardrobe for inspection prior to departure.
4.  I can carry on as many bags as I please – stuffed with anything I want – and I’m pretty sure all will arrive in the same condition as when loaded.
5.  I can carry my pocketknife on every trip – no questions asked.
6.  I am nearly 100% sure I won’t be sitting in my driveway for an hour due to some “mechanical difficulty,” weather in Atlanta, or some other mysterious explanation.
7.  There is a 0% chance that my valuables will be missing when I arrive.
8.  I have complete control over who sits by me, the cabin temperature, and the available music.
9.  I can bring delicate gifts or valuable musical instruments on the trip and never worry about them being broken.
10.  It’s highly unlikely I’ll be exposed to obnoxious body odors, airborne germs, crying babies, or unruly kids (or adults) during my trip.

There are others … maybe you’ve got some you’d like to share!
